Welcome to the Karer's Korner |

If you have come to Karer's Korner, looking for serious resources then I'm afraid that you've come to the wrong place. However, please this site because sooner or later you will no doubt need some light relief from your duties as a carer. For serious assistance, please click here.
Being a carer can be very isolating and the few good friends that stick with you will probably have little or no understanding of what you are dealing with. Before going straight into a chat room, why not take a look at our mixed emotions page - this shows some of the feelings that many carers experience but have difficulty explaining.
At Karer's Korner, we have a selection of chat rooms designed specifically for carers to share their experiences, frustrations etc. with other carers. The chat rooms are unmoderated and we aim to run a no names, no pack drill policy. This means that you can chat about yourselves but please do not give any personal details about the person you are caring for. Ultimately, the aim of this site is to introduce carers to each other and hopefully to get you meeting up for a social time-out. One word of warning though, the internet is not the safest place in the world and the people you chat to may not always be what they seem so please be careful especially if meeting face to face.
In order to join the chat rooms, we need a little information from you, this is not stored on our servers but your profile information will be saved on your computer ready for your next visit. (Because we hope you will want to come back again and again.)
Some personal notes from WebMaster-BS-62: I created this site over the long hot summer of 2003, I had previous experience as a carer with the British Red Cross but I have now been a full time carer for the last 4 years and the experience is very different to my earlier one. Over the summer, I was suffering from the trapped emotion and was not able to find anything on the internet that provided any light relief specifically aimed at carers so I thought I would create one.
I must pass on my thanks to Alex Haneng because while I am a competent ASP programmer, I was having trouble with this project and his "lesson 3 - mini chat room code sample" made this site not only possible but a reality. If you are an ASP programmer and would like the sorce code for this site then you can download it by clicking here. The minimum size of this chat room is 800x600 but it looks a lot better at 1024 or higher.
